QUILTING
A group of quilters meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 9:00
a.m. to create quilts for patients at the VA hospital and other groups as the need arises. The quilts are made from fabric donated by Hilltop members. Several quilts have been donated and more are under construction. Anyone who enjoys quilting is invited to take part in this project.
BANNERS
The banner supply is being updated and expanded by a group of creative women who work as projects are being developed. They began with back to school themed banners. New banners celebrating the spirit of Hilltop UMC will soon be hanging on the sanctuary walls. The goal is to continue to add banners for all the seasons of the church.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Prayer shawls are knited or crocheted and given to someone who may be experiencing health concerns or facing some difficult life challenges. As the shawl is made the creator prays for the recipient.
The word "shawl" comes into the English language in 1662 from the Persian word shAl.
Shawls have been made for centuries; they are universal and embracing; they comfort and enfold; wrap and warm; mother and hug; shelter and beauty. Those who knit and receive shawls are loved and blessed.
This group meets every Thursday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Most of the needle workers are experienced; however, anyone who would like to learn will receive lots of help.
SCRAPBOOKING
Monday afternoons from 1-4:00 p.m. a group gathers
with pictures and cutting tools to preserve the memories of their families in scrapbooks.
