Christian Education for all Ages

Sunday School    9:40-10:40 A.M.

Clases resume September 7

Preschool-PreK

Our youngest children follow the "Rock Solid" curriculum as they begin to learn about Jesus and his love for them.  Simple songs, games and stories bring the Bible lessons to life and build a foundation for lessons learned as they grow in their faith.

Kindergarten - Sixth Grade

Using the rotational approach, the "PowerXpress" curriculum guides elementary aged children through a lesson or theme that is presented by four different participatory learning styles.  Lessons are taught in one room using science applications and in another through storytelling.  A third group of children learn through games and art is the medium for the fourth group.  Grouped by ages  and reading ability, the children move through each classroom over a four week period to experience different versions of the lesson theme.  Music is included with all children gathering in the sanctuary for singing at the opening of the hour.

Bible Presentation

Sunday School children in their 3rd grade year in school receive a Children's Bible personally engraved with their name as a gift from the church.  Teachers encourage the children to bring their Bibles every week and incorporate Bible based activities in the lessons to help develop an understanding of how to use and learn from their Bibles.

Jr. High (7th & 8th Grades)

This class uses the Bible as a basis for studying Old Testatment heros of the faith.

Confirmation

Confirmation class at Hilltop United Methodist Church is a special learning opportunity for middle teenaged youth.  The class, taught by Jeff Gould and Pastor Dan Freed, usually starts in mid-September, and meets twice a month through early May.  Each participant commits to regular attendance and thoughtful participation.  Those who have gone to church since birth, as well as those who have never been to much or any church will find more than plenty to stretch their understanding, and offer a welcoming space for their thoughts and questions.  Christianity was never intended to be a fact list or skill set one might check off when memorized, and then occasionally refer back to through life when necessary.  It is nothing less than a living, tripping, questioning, laughing, aggravating, surprising friendship with the most amazing God. Since all friendships can be deepened or injured by how we treat them, our confirmation experience seeks to help participants learn how to make their friendship with God the growing and deeply rewarding relationship God knows it can be, and wants it to become.  Let Judi, our Office Manager, know if you are interested in participating so that when information is sent out about the class, you will be on the contact list of those who will recieve it.  Do you have further questions or concerns?  Give me a call or drop me an email.  I’m always happy to listen and answer as best I can.  Shouldn’t our most quality friendship in life be our friendship with God?
